RRB ALP 2013 Ques 118
Question: A person sold two pipes at Rs. 12 each. His profit on one was 20% and his loss on the other was 20%. On the whole, he:
Options:
A) Neither loss nor gained
B) Gained Rs. 1
C) Lost Rs. 1
D) Gained Rs. 2
Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: C
Solution:
- $ \because $ C.P. of first pipe $ =\frac{12\times 100}{(100+20)}=Rs.10 $
$ \Rightarrow $ C.P. of second pipe $ =\frac{12\times 100}{(100-20)}=Rs.15 $
$ \Rightarrow $ C.P. of both the pipes $ =10+15=Rs.25 $
$ \Rightarrow $ S.P. of both pipes $ =12+12=Rs.24 $
$ \therefore $ Loss on the whole $ =25-24=Rs.1 $
